DIY Litter Box Air Fresheners

Here’s a blog for all you DIY lovers out there and if you’re not the crafty type no worries. This project is very simple. These air fresheners can make cute holiday gifts for cat parents or help make your home smell pleasant when guest come over. Most cats wont even mind that its there and will continue to use the box.

Supplies

  • Activated Charcoal
  • Cheese Cloth
  • Tablespoon
  • Needle and Thread
  • Ribbon (for gifting purposes)

Step 1

Purchase some activated charcoal from your local hardware store. The spongy like surface of the charcoal helps with trapping odors. These little minerals are also used in air and aquarium filters. .

Step 2

Use the tablespoon to scoop some activated charcoals into a few layers of cheesecloth. The cloth is loosely woven to help with filtering. You can find cheesecloths at grocery stores. If need to you can substitute with any net like fabric.

Step 3

Gather up all ends of the cloth to close in the charcoal. Now take your needle and thread to tightly sow up the opening. Now bury it in your cat’s litter box.  If you plan on giving the air freshener as a gift, tie  a pretty ribbon around it. Make sure to tell the cat parent to take ribbon off before burying it in litter box.
