Happy National Cat Day

Cats are so awesome that there is a national day reserved on every October 29th to  celebrate their awesomeness. But how did the day come about?

Origin of National Cat Day

This day was founded by Colleen Paige, an animal welfare advocate. Her sole purpose was to inform the world on how many lovable cats are out there that need to be adopted into a loving forever home. The other purpose of this day is so cat parents can celebrate  the unconditional love and companionship their fur babies provide.  This day was first celebrated back in 2005. The American Society for the Prevention of cruelty also support this day and encourage pet adoption.

There is an International Cat Day that was started back in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Countries such as Europe and Russia celebrate World Cat Day.
